"We've got the biggest balls of them all!"

So yeah, I'm going to the Navy Ball this Saturday. I got approached by big King and he was wondering if I was going. I told him that I didn't know. Then I asked him if he was going and he said he was. So now I'm going. I had to get a duty swap in order to do it cuz my section has duty on Saturday. Jimmy is switching with me. He's real cool about stuff like that.

I've been working on Mary's pants and they're just about done. I did a fitting the other day and tailored them some more. I just got to get her to try them on again and tell me if they fit better. Then I have the waistband, hem the bottom (which I won't do until she brings me the shoes she's planning on wearing with it), and the diamonds on the legs. I think overall they turned out awesome. I've never made pants before and I don't think you can really tell. After this, I need to make the Scarecrow mask. I have burlap sacks and I'm going to get twine and rope from boatswain1 this week. I've totally got the "hookup." lol. I also got my blanket edging in the mail yesterday so now I can make the baby blanket I've been planning.

This weekend I bought a new toy for myself... a new tablet! Yeah, they have some out in town at Llaox Electronics. It's a Wacom Bamboo Comic tablet. It comes with software but it's in Japanese and I don't know how to change the language settings on the software themselves because the character pack isn't installed on the computer I'm using. At least, it isn't installed on the Windows side of the computer. The Apple side views languages just fine. I also got a blank black hoodie so I can embroider on it. It's going to be the first thing in a while that I'm doing for myself. I'm super excited. I think the first thing I'm going to do to it is make thumb holes in the sleeves.

Anyways, lunch is almost over and I want to get a smoke in. Oh, btw... I'm all qualified in my basic stuff for my blue card now! Hopefully I get it before Halloween. :D

Killeroo

Aw man... I may be getting obsessed over another TV show. lol. The Mighty Boosh! It's British... that should explain a lot. lol. I'm trying to watch the first episode in parts on YouTube but the internet is being incredibly slow tonight. I need to get to bed soon too. I have watch in the morning at 4. *sigh* Stupid watch. Oh well. Could be worse.

Oh, a thank you goes out to Mr. Hammy for letting me use his computer. XD I really appreciate it. I don't like going crazy without one. You're a lifesaver. Anyways, should get to bed. Really tired. Broken sentences. lol

Lazy weekend

Hey there! I bought a Sony Mylo the other day. I am so happy with this purchase. I`m actually using it right now. :D I got Skype to go with it. I can now call any phone in the US and they can call me back for only $60 a year! I love it! It's got a pretty decent camera too.

So I'm being lazy today. I need to finish sewing Mary's pants tho. *sigh* I have no energy to do anything. I'm even being a mooch and eating the duty section's food on the ship. In my defense, they were going to throw it away... why not throw it into my stomach? lol.

I finally saw The Dark Knight. It was amazing! You need to see it. :)

WTF?

Yeah, so I think something's up with this world at the moment. Since Friday, I've had about 4 different people hit on me! You may be saying to yourself that it's not such a big deal... but this just about never happens to me! A couple people on my ship, some Japanese dudes, and this guy that I've never seen before (I think he's off the G.Dub)! This last guy was just a few hours ago and asked me out to sushi. I had a guy ask me if I had a boyfriend when I was on the smoke deck a few days ago. It sounded like he was hinting at stuff. These Japanese guys were walking somewhere and when they noticed me, they stopped and looked at me like... I don't know. It's weird, I tell ya. I may be overreacting but I don't think I am. I'm usually pretty good at determining these things.

On a side note, my A.D.D. symptoms have been going up lately as well. I seriously can't remember to do anything anymore! I can't concentrate, I've been uber hyper lately, I just don't know. So I thought to take another online quiz/test thingy. Here's the results:

Yeah! I know what I'm gonna be for Halloween this year! I'm gonna be one of Joker's henchmen from the newest Batman movie, The Dark Knight! I'm so excited! My friend, Mary, is going as Harley Quinn and her husband, Mike, is going as the Joker. There's going to be more henchmen as well. We're going trick-or-treating in the Honch. It's going to be amazing. I'll definately upload pictures as we get our costumes ready. I'm helping Mary out with her costume cuz she's not that good with a sewing machine... so says she. lol.

I also found the best fabric in the world for a baby blanket / stuffed animal. I'm going to get some for a particular new addition to the world. You can't find satin blanket edging anywhere here in Japan so I had to order some off Amazon. I'm planning on making the stuffed animal out of the same fabric as the blanket so it matches... it's so soft! hehe.

Anyways, I'm on duty today. Just two watches and each are only an hour long. Woot. Mary is going to be buying the supplies and fabric for her costume pants tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to help her start sewing them. I'm just amazing like that. lol. Peace!

Tsunamis Rock!

Oh man. The storm we had on Friday night was awesome! We got the tail end of a tsunami! It started raining so hard and so fast that the puddles were above my ankles! I ended up getting so wet walking back from the train station that I decided to make the best of it... meaning I was jumping in puddles and getting even more wet. lol. Basically, when I got back, there was not one item of clothing that I was wearing that was not wet enough to wring out. My shoes are still soaking wet and it's Sunday afternoon. It was fun!

I spent all day yesterday in bed. Reading and sleeping. That was nice. I'm on the 3rd in this particular novel series. Very addicting. Made for some really cool dreams as well! Anyways, I'm supposed to go shopping today with the girls. I have laundry in the dryer and I'm hungry. It's raining again too. I should get going. I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Cheep cheep cheep

It's 11:35am and we're off work! haha. I know you all hate me. Why am I still here tho? The paint fumes must be getting to me...

So looked online and I calculated how much time it will take me to pay off my loan and my credit card based on the payments I'm making right now. They'll be paid off in 7 months. I wonder if I can wait for a computer that long... Maybe, maybe not. In any case I may get a skype phone but I found out that I can't buy one straight from their website because they don't ship to FPO AP addresses either. Pretty gay. Oh well.

I had a lot of sleep last night! Yeah, totally crashed after pt. I did take a shower tho, so at least I didn't climb into bed all stinky and whatnot. I read some of my book and then passed out. Totally slept almost 12 hours. Kinda cool yet shows that I have no social life. Not true, considering I was being asked to go to this comedy thing but didn't want to get out of bed. What can I say? I was tired!

Killer Tofu

Ugh. The 3rd class exam was today. I really don't know how I did. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. At least I didn't feel like I did well... that almost always means that you bombed it. I did get a "must promote" on my eval I finally got to sign last night. Yay! We get the results in November. It's going to be hard to wait that long.

I am SO tired today. I don't really even know why. I think it's a combo of the test this morning and the weather. It's raining a lot. Not heavy at all but it's not letting up. I don't want to go to p.t. today. I have to go. Ppl are yelling at me to get off the computer. Later!

Good Cookie

Well, tomorrow is the 3rd class exam. I'm not sure if I'm going to take that one or the late one. My chief went on leave before he told me my eval was done and needed to be signed by me. They found my eval and worksheet and still haven't contacted me to sign it. I keep asking about it but I'm not really getting good answers. I did find out something very beneficial though. My Good Conduct ribbon is worth 2 points on my eval and that will help me out greatly. Now all I have to worry about is passing the test.

I really miss having a computer. I was at the NEX on Monday and I was looking at the computers and it got me thinking. I talked to an IT on my ship and he said that for me it would be best if I build one online. That way I can get the specs I want. Well, I found a laptop that I want and it's a Sony Vaio SR series. The only problem about that is in order to register on the site or apply for a Sony card to get financing, you need to have a valid US address. That's all well and good except that if I provide a US address I won't ever get the mail they're sending me. I'm planning on contacting their customer service guys by email or phone and ask them some questions about it. I really hate not having a computer. It's making me crazy! lol.

Also, studying for this freaking exam is making me crazy! I really don't like sonar but there's nothing I can do about that now. It's best just to ride along until I get out of the Navy... which is April 26th, 2011. Seems SO far away! Oh well. I'm in Japan and we're going to be visiting a lot of cool places next year. I'll be able to make the best of it. Anyways, peace out!

Aloe Juice

Happy Monday! I have to say, I really love this one juice they sell in vending machines here in Japan. It's white grape & aloe juice... and it has little bits of aloe in it! Sounds gross but it's really yummy.

So yeah, not really much to say. I'm posted for the day and thought I should update you all before I go back to the barge. That, and Big King said he wanted to play Guitar Hero with me in Sonar 2. lol. This weekend was good. Went out Friday and Saturday to the Honch and did some karaoke. Sunday was spent sleeping and watching movies. I saw Bubble Boy for the first time yesterday and I loved it! Laughed my ass off! hehe. I'm thinking of getting a Skype phone sometime soon. I also want to get a new computer put on layaway or financed... I am going CRAZY without one! But yeah... I better get going. Laters!

Hello again! Well, yesterday was a good day. I got relieved 30 minutes late from my watch but that's okay since it wasn't my fault. Went to quarters and was told by my LPO that I'm going to "bilateral training." I was scheduled for berthing cleaners so he just told some girl in my division to do it for me. hahaha. So I went to this training which was really useful. It was a refresher on sonar stuff about Chinese submarines. Very nifty. During lunch, I went to the post office and sent a package to Belgium. After lunch I was told we were secured for the day/weekend. Then later I went out with some friends. We "honch'd" it up and did some karaoke. I sang Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" and Heart's "Barracuda." It was super fun. We're actually going out again tonight!
I'm taking the 3rd class exam next week and I really don't want to. Don't get me wrong, of course I want to class-up but this whole thing is giving me a headache. It's annoying and I can't wait until it's over. Oh well. BTW, I uploaded more pictures on MySpace finally. :3 you can find them here: [photos]

First Post

So welcome to my new blog. I made it so that I can update friends and family from the comfort (or not) of my ship. A little about moi? Sure, I can clue you in. My name is Laura and I'm in the US Navy, stationed aboard the USS Fitzgerald. We are stationed out of Yokosuka, Japan. I've been in Japan about 2 months now and onboard a little less than that. Japan is nice but it takes some getting used to. Let's see... I don't really go out much lately because I've refound my love of books. They're sucking me into their stories and it's hard to get away. Basically I just read my day away. When I do find myself wandering around, I take photos. I love how beautiful this country is and I want to capture it. But, alas, it is hard to pry me from my books. I've finished about a dozen books, probably less since I'm not keeping track, in the last month or so. Sad, I know. Oh, I will upload pictures at not-so-regular intervals. I need to leave the ship and walk to the fleet rec bldg in order to do so. The computers on the ship are not happy to accept my thumb drive. Security issues and whatnot. Alright, I think that should be enough for a first post. I have enabled comments for everyone, so even if you are not a member of blogger you can still leave me a comment.
